Competition and climate influence in the basal area increment models for Mediterranean mixed forests

چکیده
Competition plays a key role controlling tree growth in mixed forests. Contrary to monocultures, quantifying species mixing influence on suppose challenge since the presence of two or more requires estimate degree intra- and inter-specific competition among trees. Moreover, it is well known that aridity can also growth, especially Mediterranean Basin. In present context climate change, essential take into account uncertainty design sustainable management guidelines for To achieve that, data from Spanish National Forest Inventory was used this study fit new mixed-effects basal area increment (BAI) models 29 two-species compositions Spain. A wide range different structures (intra-specific, inter-specific, size-symmetric size-asymmetric) conditions (in terms De Martonne Index) were included tested BAI models. Parameter estimations obtained all possible species, mixtures combinations by Maximum Likelihood (ML). Models with coefficients being significant (p < 0.05) first selected. Among these models, we Akaike Evidence Ratios selecting best one each mixture. The model mixture analyze climatic growth. Regarding influence, common trend found higher productivity than pure stands, suggesting values may increase diversity. Based intra indexes, seemed be most representative biological interaction conifer-conifer mixtures, neutralism facilitation occur frequently conifer-broadleaved broadleaved-broadleaved mixtures. Our findings suggested significantly limited arid conditions, excepting Pinus halepensis pinea. rigorous modelling approach successfully uncovered not only effect various but help us understand Thus, presented implementation adaptation under future change scenarios.

A Basal Area Increment-Based Approach of Site Productivity Evaluation for Multi-Aged and Mixed Forests
Accurate estimates of forest site productivity are essential for environmental planning and forest management. In this study, we developed a new productivity index, hereafter termed basal area potential productivity index (BAPP), to estimate site productivity for irregular and complex forests characterized by multi-aged, multi-species, and multi-layer stands. We presented the biological relevan...

this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...

In most cases forest practice in Austria use yield tables to predict the growth of their forests. Common yield tables show the increment of pure even-aged stands which are treated in a way the table developer recommends. The usage of these tables in stands which are either unevenaged, mixed or treated in another way, may lead to inaccurate predictions. To avoid these problems, forest growth mod...
متن کاملContrasting Spatial Patterns in Active-Fire and Fire-Suppressed Mediterranean Climate Old-Growth Mixed Conifer Forests
In Mediterranean environments in western North America, historic fire regimes in frequent-fire conifer forests are highly variable both temporally and spatially. This complexity influenced forest structure and spatial patterns, but some of this diversity has been lost due to anthropogenic disruption of ecosystem processes, including fire. Information from reference forest sites can help managem...
